Susquehanna Valley United Way Announces Mark Stankiewicz as New President & CEO

Board Unanimously Votes to Appoint Stankiewicz, Confident in His Leadership to Drive Community Impact

Susquehanna Valley United Way (SVUW) is excited to announce the appointment of Mark Stankiewicz as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Stankiewicz brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience and a deep commitment to community impact, making him an ideal leader to guide SVUW into its next chapter.

The Board officially voted to appoint Stankiewicz on Friday, March 15, following a unanimous decision.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Mark Stankiewicz as the new President & CEO of Susquehanna Valley United Way," said Steve Keifer, SVUW Board Chair. "After a thorough selection process, it was clear that Mark’s leadership experience, community-driven approach, and passion for making a difference align perfectly with our mission. The Board is confident that Mark is the right leader to build on our strong foundation and further SVUW’s impact in the community."

Stankiewicz joins SVUW from the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Vice President of Operations, Marketing, and Communications. His career also includes key leadership roles at the American Cancer Society and ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund, where he successfully led fundraising and community development initiatives across northcentral and central Pennsylvania.

"I am very humbled to have been selected by the Board of Directors as the next President & CEO of this great organization," said Stankiewicz. “There are some big shoes to fill with Adrienne’s departure, but I am looking forward to the challenge—especially with the added benefit of already having a great team in place. Nonprofit work has been my passion for the better part of the past 10 years, and I believe that, at some point in life, everybody needs a helping hand. I look forward to working alongside the SVUW team to continue serving those in our community who need it most."

As part of the transition plan, outgoing CEO Adrienne Mael will remain in a part-time advisory role through early April to support a smooth handover.

"We are incredibly grateful for Adrienne’s leadership and dedication over the years," added Keifer. "She has positioned our organization for success, and we appreciate her continued support during this transition."

SVUW will officially welcome Stankiewicz on March 31. Community partners and stakeholders will have the opportunity to connect with him in the coming weeks as he begins his tenure.
